Just me, but I’ve got some new stuff going on over here….in the body-building world AND the baking world😊
I’m a little over 11 weeks away from my first Pro Bikini Competition, the OCB Yorton Cup, October 28th in Maryland and I started on my VERY CLEAN nutrition plan last week (well I stuck to it about 80%) This week is our summer vacay week at the beach in South Carolina and I’m trying to stay focused as well as have good quality family time!!
I’ve been a little scared to step on the scale (which I brought with me) while were at the beach this week. Even though I prepped all of my food to eat and have been very consistent with my workouts, I’ve had a few minor slip-ups here and there. My goal is to lose about 1.5 lbs. per week or about 0.5 - 1% body fat per week. I’m starting out a few pounds heavier than my last 2 preps, but I’m thinking most of it is coming from muscle I’ve put on.
We all love treats and sweets and we want to be able to enjoy something sweet from time to time. We also know that our bodies run better the more nutrients we put into them right? So why not try to pack our treats full of nutrients?! It's a win-win!
I've given myself the task of trying to sneak at least one of these super foods into my baking/cooking. This week I focused on using collagen. There's a recipe for
Leaving for vacation I HAD to make a few batches some of my favorite (not to mention the rest of the family's favorite) snack. I can't believe I haven't shared my recipe for energy bites yet!! My kids love these, I can never keep them around because they are usually eaten in the very first day they are made! It definitely helps to double or triple the recipe...
These are also great because you don't have to follow the recipe exactly. If you're missing an ingredient or two you can sub something or just leave it out (just be sure the ratio of wet/dry ingredients is right for making them hold their shape).
Happy late Easter and HOORAY for Springtime and this warm weather!! Its been a few weeks since I’ve posted, I’ve been busy with cake and cookie work, a short getaway with my husband, and playing with the kids during Spring Break.
FIRST off, if you're looking for my competition progress pics you won’t see them. I’m not competing in May after all. We will actually be on a family vacation at the beach in South Carolina and I certainly can’t miss that! I have picked TWO shows for this fall, one is WNBF pro show and one is an OCB Pro show. I’ll start prep mid-summer and I will be totally ready and more focused!! Instead of the kids playing games on my phone the other day I made them each their own Pinterest boards, What Pepper Likes" and "Caden's stuff". I showed them how to add to their boards. I searched "Kid friendly recipes" and let them go to town! It was interesting to see what they picked and what they wanted to make!
We made a few of their picks last week. The best one was one that Pepper picked. A Vegan Strawberry "cheesecake". I love the name of it because a true cheesecake is neither vegan or raw but after we tasted it, it made sense because it really did have a cheesecake consistency.
Good Morning! I have so much to post, but I'll try to sum everything up nicely :)
First of all I have decided the May 13th OCB Pro Bodybuilding show is a GO!!! so I will be starting prep this week and would love to have you follow me through my journey!!! It's about 11 weeks away.
Second, I have decided to take my cake and cookie business a bit more seriously and am going to invest in some better equipment and renovate and decorate my cake workshop. I'm very excited about my little project!! I know, bodybuilding and cakes are 2 opposite ends of the spectrum, but we ARE tying to find balance right??!
This past week FLEW by combined with being out of town for the weekend I didn't plan on and preparation for meal prep Sunday. This happens when the old schedule gets out of whack... but that's life and we had a great getaway weekend!!
Since my birthday is tomorrow I spent my time in the kitchen Sunday of course, baking myself TWO cakes. I told my husband and kids I wanted them to make and decorate a cake for me for my birthday this year...
So they did just that!... well, sort of. I ended up baking the cake, I used my delicious vanilla cake recipe that I use for my decorated cakes
This past week was good all around. I got most of the things done on my long to-do list. there are always a few things left on the list at the end of each day. I am getting use to my "off-season" body since my last competition was almost 2 months ago. This year I've competed in 2 bodybuilding competitions, OCB Natural Bodybuilding Bikini Division. It's been such a journey, I look back and remember when it was just an idea and in the back of my mind never thought I'd be brave enough to do it. Here I am now having competed twice in the past year and hold a WNBF pro-card by winning 1st overall in the last show! Anyways, I will go more into that topic later, for now I'm talking meal prep and cookies.
Yesterday my husband had the kids out for half of the day at a dinosaur exhibit so I did all of our grocery shopping and some meal prep. I gave myself a limit of one hour for the prep so I would work quickly! (sometimes I get distracted with all of the Pinterest recipes and try to make a zillion different things) Though, here are some tips about food/meal prep I've picked up from the pros that WORK.
